The amp you need depends on how you listen.
If you stream music from your phone, upgrading your experience is easy. You'll just need a streaming amp, which connects to your phone (wirelessly) and to speakers (with wires). We suggest the WiiM Amp (we use one in our workshop), and we sell it bundled with the S14.
Our speakers work great with a Sonos setup. You'll just need a Sonos Amp to power them.
Awesome. Our speakers work with just about any amp, modern or vintage. For an easy setup that you can also stream to, the WiiM Amp (bundled with the S14) paired with a turntable with built-in phono preamp (Audio-Technica AT-LP120X for instance) will do the trick. And you'll need speaker wire to connect your speakers to your amp. We think ours is the best, but any good speaker wire will do.
Speaker WireYes. The S14 are passive speakers: the amp powers them, and everything you listen to plays through it. If you don't already have one, the S14 Speakers + Amp bundle adds a WiiM streaming amp.
Yes. A streaming amp like the WiiM joins your Wi-Fi and plays whatever you listen to on your phone: Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Bluetooth. Of the three WiiM amps in our bundle, the WiiM Amp is the only one with AirPlay; the Amp Pro and Amp Ultra play Apple Music from an iPhone over Bluetooth.
The WiiM Amp is the one we use in our workshop and the one we'd point most people to. It's also the only one with AirPlay. The Amp Pro has a cleaner, quieter amplifier stage, and the Amp Ultra adds more power for bigger rooms and a touchscreen on the front. All three are compared on the bundle page.
Yes. Plug the turntable into the amp and play. The WiiM amps don't have a phono preamp built in, so you'll want a turntable with one (many have it, the Audio-Technica AT-LP120X for instance) or a small external phono preamp. Vintage receivers and integrated amps with a phono input need nothing extra.
Yes. A Sonos Amp powers them, and they show up as a room in the Sonos app like the rest of your system.
Almost certainly. The S14 work with just about any amp or receiver with speaker terminals, modern or vintage. If you want to check yours, email us the model and we'll tell you.
Yes. All three WiiM amps have HDMI ARC, so one cable to the TV and the S14 become your TV speakers too.
Yes. The S14 First Edition is sold on its own. The bundle is for people who need an amp too; the speakers are the same.
